And it was all a dream.
Conversing with my friends, downloading and scrolling through my thoughts; my speech more cohesive than my thoughts, yet penning these ideas proved difficult. The Simple Life suggested that I simply express my mind and not fuss over the minor details. Besides, ‘there are many ways to skin a cat’, or in this case many ways to tell a story.
A seven year old dream, or something of the sort, where I puzzled over the content of my writings. I knew the time would come, but struggled with the idea of perfect timing- the kairos moment indeed. From ‘Caleb’s Chronicles’ to ‘All Things Considered’, I juxtaposed between narcissism and semi-blasphemy. The Simple Life stood the test of time, albeit with a hint of apprehension.
I intend to use this platform as a medium to connect ideas and thoughts. My aim is to find synergies in life and draw upon my own experiences and interpretation of world events to trigger ‘Selah’ moments. This will be done via three main segments:
Mano y mano: this will feature sports content, ranging from reaction pieces to ‘thought experiments’ if may say. There should be something for everyone- I endeavor to write on football, NBA, tennis, cricket, rugby, NFL, darts, and perhaps F1 (saying this for accountability purposes so hold me to it!).
Musings: this will be geared towards content triggered by moments of reflection plus my interaction with the world, entertainment, and the like. “For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.”- Romans 1:20 NLT
Project Carlo: This will track the reflections of my coaching ‘career’ as I delve into that space. The title stems from my affinity with Carlo Ancelotti, the current manger manger of Real Madrid, whose coaching principles and philosophy I admire. I’m excited to see how this journey evolves- I love football, I love working with people and seeing growth, so this seems like a match made in heaven (literally).
FPL: This stands for ‘Fantasy Premier League’ and tracks the online game mirroring the English Premier League. Weekly updates will be posted for those involved in the tsl league as we channel our inner football manager.
My use of the semicolon should act as a constant reminder of this mission, irrespective of the topic at hand. In browsing through the different blogs and writings, the motif should be of independent moments all contributing equally towards my journey. The way of the journey will be discovered as we go along. Perhaps it could be akin to the Israel’s voyage to the promised land, or Abraham’s supposedly last journey with Isaac before he’d sacrifice him. Better yet Jesus’ time from Gethsamene to Golgotha. Who knows the journey ahead, or the detours that await, yet still I attempt to simplify the difficult, and invite you to come along with me. Ultimately, I endeavor to encapsulate this scripture:
I Thessalonians 4:11-12 NKJV: “that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.”
