FPL Gameweek 11

This was a grim week for most of us. Our trusted players failed us, and in a week where I expected to breach the top half of the table I found myself slipping further down. To the high-level statistics, the average points scored in the league this week was 29, which was below the average across all FPL players at 32. Comparing last week’s average fixture differential (10 points), this remained at that level. 9/18 (down from 12 last week) of the games were decided by single digits, whilst 4/18 of the fixtures had a 15+ points differential, and 2 fixtures by 20+ points. There were also no draws across the 18 games, a return to normality.

Notable mentions:

  1. Fixtures of the week: For the ‘Upset of the Week’ I predicted that Luke Sure would emerge victorious against CK. CK was not pleased with that prediction- he thought I was selling him short. Unfortunately for him, I was correct. He lost by 21 points (the second most of the GW), albeit Luke Sure scored the highest of us all. The prediction strikes again- it’s a matter of over performance vs undervalue. For the ‘Neck and Neck’ tie between Farabale 5 vs Kwamz FC this wasn’t closely contested, with the host winning by 12 points. Kwamz FC’s team failed on all fronts, with Onana providing the only meaningful output as the rest scored 2 or fewer points. For the ‘Goals Galore’ game this also did not live up to its billing, as Casuals vs Gabi Gabby Gabi provided a below average combined score at 62. The fixture with the highest points total was infact between King Manny FC vs IamJoseMurinho, with 78 points recorded between them.

  2. Top scorer: Luke Sure takes this one with his 47 points return, buoyed by the defensive nexus of Johnstone, Andersen and Trippier, whilst Fernandes and Foden sealed the deal. King Manny FC was a close second with 46 points, but suffered as 4 of his squad were injured resulting in Isak generating 0 points.

  3. Blooper: This has to go to Nu Creations, where something always seems to be happening with his team. They scored the lowest points (13) of the week, with no players in his starting XI scoring above 2 points, whilst 17 points were left on the bench (9 & 8 for Archer and Kabore respectively). He can’t be blamed for benching the pair as Sheffield United and Luton have offered nothing thus far. I can confidently say that there will probably not be another week where Archer scores more in a week than Salah, Son, Maddison, and Haaland combined. Notable mention to IamHimFC with his injury stricken team- looking at his team is a shock to the system.

  4. Unlucky: This one goes to IamJoseMurinho as his benching of Nicolas Jackson cost him 16 points, which would have won him the fixture and had him topping the league. DanDman419could somewhat feel hard done-by as given Luis Diaz’s unfortunate circumstances it was a surprise he ended up playing and scoring the equaliser. I wonder if on a normal day he would’ve started him as he’s spoilt for choice in the attacking areas, but that’s neither here nor there.

  5. Making Moves: Stomach Rumbles climbed up 7 places after his 16 points win against Undisputed in what was the biggest leap of the week. Vibes FC climbed 5 places even though she scored below average, but as we always say matchups are everything. Mainoo Shoessomehow also rose 5 places after a 1 point win and below average score- to me this doesn’t seem fair but life isn’t! On the flip side, there was a 4 way tie as A Shaw Thing,  IamJoseMurinho, Nu Creations & ChaBALRS all dropped 6 places.

Looking forward to GW 12, here are my predictions below:

  1. Upset of the week: Unfortunately, CK I think you’re in for another shock. ChaBALRS may be placed 24th, but I think he has something for you. Please prove me wrong sir, it would be in your best interest as negative momentum can be difficult to break.

  2. Neck and neck: Undisputed vs All or nothing V3 should be a close one, as there’s much to play for on both sides. I think this has the makings of a 1 pointer or draw, but if one were to choose a winner it would be Undisputed.

  3. Goals galore: I suspect ETHstateofmindS2 vs Agueroooooooo should be high scoring, with the visitor just nipping it at the end.

Last set of games until the final international break- last push before the season really begins…… #wildcardready
