FPL Gameweeks 35 - 38: The Finale
First and foremost, I’d like to thank you all for participating in this year’s FPL league. It’s been fun organising this and I’ve brushed up on my excel skills as a result! It’s been a nine month journey which has taken shape in a way I didn’t expect. It culminated in the end of season event at TOCA Social which I thoroughly enjoyed seeing people from different spheres bonding over a shared interest. It’s what this is all about; whilst the topic of fantasy football is trivial in the grand scheme of things it’s nonetheless a safe space for unwinding and de-stressing. If it remains the solitary season of the league I mark it a chapter closed crisply.
To the football now. For the final four GWs (35-38), we saw the highest score of the season posted by A Shaw Thing with 139 points in GW 37. Over this period we saw four players register a perfect record: Yessirree FC (who now has thirteen consecutive victories), Luke Sure, CK (our confirmed champion), and Farabale 5. This somewhat correlates to the goal difference tallies where Yessirree FC was third placed (with +81) and the others within the top ten. On the other side, seven players succumbed to a 0-0-5 record, namely Casuals, TA TA TA, WeBackAgain, IamHimFC, Deep in Thought FC, Chrissyleboss XI, and blue bandits.
Reflecting on Graph 1, TA TA TA is at the foot of the table with 181 points from the four fixtures (and second worst points difference of -118), whilst CK tops the league with 375, closely followed by ChaBALRS (with 363 points, who also topped the PD tally with 127 points).
To Graph 2 and its depictions of the position changes, given it was the last four GWs and the players’ positions were somewhat set in stone, there was minimal movement across the board. Agueroooooooo, Casuals, & A Shaw Thing slid the furthest (down 4 places), whilst Farabale 5 ascended 4 places to 9th.
Taking into account the overall season, Graph 3 shows the total points and points difference across the 38 GWs. As you can see, the top two were some distance ahead of the rest, with A Shaw Thing slightly pipping CK to first place with a score of 2512 points compared to 2508 for our league winner. Regarding points difference they also form the top two, with CK comfortably first with +406 versus 359 for A Shaw Thing. Third place for the respective categories were filled by Rassclart Addz (total points of 2401) & ChaBALRS (points difference of +330). On the flip side, IamHimFC scored the lowest points with 1629 and the worst goal difference of -518, followed by blue bandits with 1745 points and World Class XI (-328 points difference).
All or nothing V3 & A Shaw Thing both topped the league on five occasions across the 38 GWs. I don’t want to drown you heavily with stats so we’ll leave it here.
It really has been a pleasure this year hosting you all- rest up and enjoy the Euros (my money is on Portugal).
To a simpler life;
