FPL Gameweek 4
I’m not happy guys. I am 0-4. Gameweek 4 is done and I am currently in 34th place. It is needless to say how catastrophic the start has been, but all hope is not lost! I retain confidence in my abilities- we just need to get the ball rolling….
To the high-level statistics, the average points scored in the league this week was 72, which was in line with the average across all FPL players. Comparing last week’s average fixture differential (11 points), it stayed the same for this week. The fixtures were less closely contested with fewer fixtures being decided by single digits (9/18), albeit the lopsided affairs of last week not featuring as much. We also saw two draws registered, involving ApexAms vs CK (72 points a piece), & Deep in Thought FC vs ChaBALRS (68 points a piece). ApexAms should consider himself lucky as CK is penalized for an extra transfer this week with a 4 point deduction.
Notable mentions:
Fixture of the week: The fixture between Nu Creations was as close as I expected, with the former winning by just 2 points, where Udogie’s 5 point return in the defense the difference between the two. The highest scoring fixtures went to JCFC vs Mainoo Shoes, & Gabi Gabby Gabi vs #1 FC with combined tallies of 161 points for each game.
Top scorer: This goes to All or nothing V3 with his 90 points showing. He was largely carried by Haaland and Alvarez who contributed 54 points to his total, whilst his goalkeeper and defense only provided 4 points in total. It was certainly not a week for defenders with only 2 teams registering clean sheets across the 10 league games.
Blooper: This is a 3-way tie between World Class XI, IamJoseMurinho, & Rayz FC who all scored 49 points. World Class XI decided against captaining Haaland in favor of Jackson, IamJoseMurinho excluded Haaland from his team, and Rayz FC played a free hit and also decided that a team without Haaland was a shrewd decision. Upon reflection I think Rayz FC takes this one as his omission of Haaland was unforgivable.
Unlucky: This goes to ChaBALRS as a second successive draw sees him plummet down the table. It is worth noting that if you score below the GW average can you really feel a sense of injustice if you don’t win your fixture? I’ll leave you guys to make the call.
Making Moves: I thought it would be interesting to see who makes the largest leaps/drops each week, so to begin with the positive our top scorer of the week All or nothing V3 climbed 9 positions from 26th to 17th place. I’m hoping to do the same with my emphatic victory after the international break. To the less fortunate, our draw merchant ChaBALRSdropped 9 places from 16th to 25th whilst Rayz FC also declined to 24th from 15th place. To draw and suffer that fate is very unfortunate- I feel for you bro.
With the international break in motion, we have a well-deserved break where we can analyze our squads and assess how things have panned out thus far. Upon our return, the fixture of the week with the closest matchup looks to be World Class XI vs blue bandits as they’re placed 32nd and 33rd respectively. I also think Excellent Finish vs ApexAms on the upper end may be one of the highest scoring fixtures so I’m interested to see how that matches up.
Until next time,
To a simpler life;
